Worry to Worship

Thursday, January 23, 2014

Focus.  We all have one. We can choose to focus on our problems or we can choose to focus on the One who can fix them. Worry forms into worship when we focus on the only One worthy. Like David going out to meet Goliath if we focus on our giants, God gets smaller.  If we focus on our God, Goliath is no longer a giant. As a sufferer of anxiety, I have learned that worry wearies.  Worship, however, brings strength {Habakkuk 3:19}.

Habakkuk is an excellent example of worry to worship.  He starts scared. Worried that his enemies will prevail. Yet in the end he figures out that looking at the problems was doing him no good.  Better to look at God. "I will look to see what he will say to me." {Habakkuk 2:1a}

So how can we focus on Him?

Pray. Start a gratitude list. List the names of God, which tell who He is. Search the Bible for the attributes of God. Memorize His Word. Do a Bible study.

When you start to worry? Be a Habakkuk and worship instead.
