New Steps...New Language!
Thursday, April 1, 2010
Bonnie over at Faith Barista asked us to blog about "New Steps", ways in which we are being renewed in our walk with Christ. For me, God has really been working on me in this area. I am close to being done with Breaking Free (The Revised Version) by Beth Moore. In there she stresses that if we are going to get rid of our strongholds and change we have to renew our minds. When we have a stronghold in our lives it means that we have believe the lies that Satan has promoted to us. Satan's native language is lies....it's all he has to use against us. In order to change we have to reject the lies (put off the old) and then fill our minds with the truth (put on the new). God is working on me in the areas of unforgiveness and anxiety. I am learning to reject the lies that Satan has offered me over the years....Here are a few:
*That I can't forgive because that will let the other person "off the hook".
*That I need to be anxious and fretful to maintain control of my life.
*That worry will help me "keep it all together".
What is the truth about those lies?
*That just because I forgive someone it doesn't mean that they are "off the hook". They will be on God's hook for what they have done. I will contend with those that contend with you. Isaiah 49:25
*That I have no real control in my life...God has that and He loves me and knows what I need more than I do. Let them know that you, whose name is the Lord-that you alone are the Most High over all the earth. Psalms 83:18
*There is "no keeping it all together". Only God is capable of that! He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. Colossians 1:17
God is teaching me to speak a new language...the language of truth!

And it's a lifelong education. I'm still amazed He's stuck with me this long. Good post.
Debbie, how often to we mistake rumblings for a whisper... believing deceptions and misconceptions! Thank you!

What an honest post - that we can all relate to.
But, kudos to you for actually figuring out the truths to replace them with -- seeing them side by side like that is very powerful.
Thanks for being a part of the Faith Barista Jam today and putting your voice in, Debbie!
the language of truth is SO powerful!
