Bible Studies for Women

For the past decade or so, I have done a number of awesome Bible studies written especially for women.  These studies have given me a great desire to dive into God's Word even more.  Studying God's Word keeps me sane and helps readjust my negative thinking.  I am not sure what I would do without His Word to guide me.

Here is a list of studies that I have found helpful over the years.

Beth Moore

Beth is probably my favorite because of the depth that she has in her studies.  I have done most of her studies and loved every single one.  I do have my favorites though (marked with asterisks).

All of these studies have accompanying DVD lessons.  I haven't always watched the DVD's for each study.  With many of them the DVD lessons enhance what you are studying, but you can get away with not watching them.  The only one that that doesn't work with is The Law of Love.  It is a more video-driven study.

James: Mercy Triumphs (Member Book) **
David: Seeking a Heart Like His
Breaking Free: The Journey, The Stories
Esther: It's Tough Being a Woman
A Woman's Heart: God's Dwelling Place
Stepping Up: A Journey Through the Psalms of Ascent
Daniel: Lives of Integrity, Words of Prophecy
The Patriarchs: Encountering the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob
Living Beyond Yourself: Exploring the Fruit of the Spirit **
Believing God **
When Godly People Do Ungodly Things
Beloved Disciple: The Life and Ministry of John **
Jesus, the One & Only
The Law of Love: DVD Kit **
To Live Is Christ

All of her studies are good.  The ones I put asterisks by were ones where God met me where I was at and grabbed my heart.  Sometimes I was going through a rough time so the study was so much richer than normal.

My favorite study of hers is Living Beyond Yourself: Exploring the Fruit of the Spirit.  At the time I did this study (almost eight years ago) I was going through a very dark time. I think that is why I remember it so fondly.  I am eager in the near future to do this one again and see what else I can glean from it.

Shawn Lantz

Shawn has two studies out: one on forgiveness and the other on jealousy.  Her studies are in-depth like Beth's and really get you to think.  I received a tremendous blessing from both of them!  While Shawn is not as well known as Beth or Priscilla Shirer, her studies are top notch!!  You can visit her site here. You can read more about these studies on my blog here. I have actually done both of these twice and gotten so much out of them each time!

Priscilla Shirer

I love Priscilla's studies, too.  The homework each day is a little less than Beth's or Shawn's.  Her studies would be ideal during a hectic period in life.  They are rich!

I have done the first two studies and am currently working on Gideon.  I have enjoyed the insights in all of them!

One in a Million: Journey to Your Promised Land
Jonah: Navigating a Life Interrupted
Gideon: Your weakness. God's strength.

Sandra Glahn (Coffee Cup Bible Studies Series)

These studies are unique in that you don't have to have a Bible with you!  The complete Bible text you are studying is right there in the book.  I haven't done all these studies, but will list them all.  My favorite so far has been the one on Ruth.  It has totally changed my perspective on what it means to be faithful and to show devotion.

Coffee Cup Bible Studies can be found on Amazon.  Here is the complete list:

Frappe with Philippians
Mocha on the Mount
Premium Roast with Ruth
Espresso with Esther
Cappuccino with Colossians
Sumatra with the Seven Churches
Solomon Latte
Kona with Jonah
Java with the Judges
Chai with Malachi (To be released this summer)

Jessica LaGrone

Another great study that I have done is Namesake: When God Rewrites Your Story. You can find my detailed review here.

Broken and Blessed is also from Jessica LaGrone.  Here is what I thought about it.

Pam- I haven't, but I know that some of Beth Moore's studies are offered that way. I would think that would be an awesome way to go!

I'm over a year late in reading your blog post!
Looks as if we've done almost all of the same studies.
Believing God, The Patriarchs, and Living With Unmet Desires have had the biggest impact on me, only because, as you mentioned, these studies came into my life at some difficult times. It was a faith saver to be built up, strengthened, and encouraged through God's words during these challenging times.
