Do not gloat when your enemy falls;
when he stumbles, do not let your heart rejoice,
or the Lord will see and disapprove and turn his wrath away from him. Proverbs 24:17-18
Dear Zach and Noah-
It is so hard to NOT rejoice when the one that hurts you falls. You want to see them hurt like you did. You want the agony for them that you received. And yet, God says NO. Not only does He say NO, He tells us there will be a consequence for our gloating and rejoicing. He will turn His wrath away from our enemies. Why would He do that? Doesn't He want to see justice done? The problem is that there is no justice when there is unforgiveness. He knows we need to forgive for our own mental well-being so He puts a heavy penalty on those that refuse to demonstrate grace. He wants to motivate us to get rid of the hatred and the bitterness which will lead to us getting rid of the pain. His commands, as always, are only for our good.
With Love,

It is my goal in October to post 31 days of Bible verses/passages that I want to pass on to my kids. My hope is eventually to buy Bibles to highlight these verses and then give them the Bible when they graduate high school. Won't you join me on my journey through God's Word?
