Ticket to Ride {and other family games}

Thursday, January 19, 2012

Noah recently received a great game as a gift,  Ticket To Ride. As a family we have been enjoying playing it.  It is simple to learn, but very intriguing!  Basically, you receive Destination cards (train routes like Atlanta to San Francisco) that you have to create on the board by collecting train cards to connect the two cities.  The game involves some luck and some strategy. It takes up to an hour to play which is just about the right about of time...not too long or too short.

Another game we have enjoyed is the Sequence Game. This one also involves strategy and some luck.  I like it because it is quick and can be played in a group while you sit and chat.  Some friends of our introduced it to us a year or so ago, and since then it has been a game that we have gone back to time and again.

Recently, we learned a new card game called Golf.  All you need is several decks of cards.  Here are the instructions.  Golf is similar to Sequence in that you can play it in large groups and chat as you go.

Tim is partial to Blokus Classics Game. We all have enjoyed it because it is a fairly short game that involves some strategy.  I struggle with it a bit in that I can never seem to beat Tim simply because he tends to be more spatial than I do and I tend to be more "spacey"!  LOL
So what games does your family enjoy? I am always on the lookout for great games!

Hi Debbie,
We love Uno and Mexican Train Dominoes. They are so much fun! Thank you for the game tips. Blokus looks especially like something we would enjoy! We are always on the lookout for one to try.
