Bulk Cooking for June/July

Thursday, June 17, 2010

For a year and a half now I have been getting together with a friend to bulk cook once a month.  Inevitably, we miss one of the summer months because we are so busy...so it turns out that we cook together about 11 times each year.  Here is what we are cooking for June/July.

If you are going to do bulk cooking get a hold of Fix, Freeze, Feast.  These recipes are easy and so far all of them have been great!  This month we are doing to do Berry Roasted Chicken, Cashew Chicken, and Tex-Mex Chicken Fingers.  These have become some of our favorite recipes because they are tasty and easy to prepare.

We are also going to do macaroni and cheese...no real recipe here.  We will just make a white sauce and add grated cheddar to it.  Then we will pour it over cooked noodles and put it in pans to bake later.  For an excellent white sauce I use Magic Mix.

We will also be making Tamale Pie from Make it Fast, Cook it Slow.  We basically bag up the filling in one Ziploc and then bag the dry ingredients for the cornbread in another bag and put these both in the freezer with the recipe attached to the bags so that we can throw it together when we need it.

Spaghetti Casserole is our last dish...from a Taste of Home magazine.

HeY Debbie, I just bought Fix, Freeze, and Feast and we LOVE it! I have only tried two recipes so far: the Berry Roasted Chicken (so good!) and the garlic mashed potatoes. Thanks for sharing your plan!

This book is awesome. I got it as a gift when I was expecting twins - we cooked about 40 meals ahead of time and it helped keep dinner on the table every night. Every recipe I have tried is great. The no cook red sauce is simple and tasty.
