There are things that lurk in our pasts that we refuse to talk about. Events we would rather forget. Hurts that surely won't hurt if we bury them deep enough. Expose them, and our shame is uncovered.
Over the past few weeks the topic of shame has popped up over and over again for me...in a sermon which eventually led me to read Shame Interrupted: How God Lifts the Pain of Worthlessness and Rejection by Edward T. Welch. Honestly, it is something that I have been struggling with...trying to conquer through my own strength, and can I say, it can't be conquered by the one who carries it. It is destroyed by the One who took it on. {Hebrews 12:2}
Join me each Thursday from July 10-31 as I discuss a topic people don't like to discuss. I will explore...
What is shame and what does it look like?
Why we have it {we ALL do}?
What does it do to our relationships?
What is the "shame and blame game"?
How do we get rid of it?
We will start with two snapshots of shame and end with hope. We no longer have to cover the shame...when we deal with it appropriately we live with honor and dignity.
