Victims of Grace

Victims.  Not a pretty picture the word paints.  Yet, we are all victims.  Victims of God's grace. We have no control over God. We have no control over His goodness.  We can't control His grace.  He weaves His grace into our stories while we are living out the hard life.  It isn't until we reach the end that we realize He was covering us all along...with His goodness.  Robin Jones Gunn's book, Victim of Grace: When God's Goodness Prevails, speaks to how we fall prey to a God of grace.  How the end is where we should begin to see the full picture of God.

Robin is a MASTER storyteller.  You can see it in her writing and how she weaves her story and relates it to the stories God has provided us in His Word. I had chills with some of what she wrote.  I cried through other parts. It may have to do with the fact that I am in a fragile season of life.  A season of healing. Robin's words spoke to me that no matter what God gives above all it is grace. If you are struggling with the death of a dream, unforgivness, bitterness, brokenness, or the desire for reconciliation then this book is well worth the read.

"What once was shattered can be redeemed." is the underlying tone of the book. It is one of hope...that no matter how our lives have fallen apart He is there through it all.  I loved how Robin used stories from the Bible to illustrate these points.  I now see Lazarus, Leah, Ruth, and even Noah's wife in a whole new light...all of them victims of a God that wouldn't let go. That through it all, "we can be assured that God's intention in discipline {or whatever hard thing comes our way} is not to get us back, but always to get us back." He pursues us with a relentless love whether we are unloved like Leah or "homeless" like Noah's wife.

In God's eyes...
