To "One Another" One Another (Regarding Others)

Thursday, September 26, 2013

This month I have been talking about how we can "one another" one another.

How do you look at others?  Do you see their faults more than their attributes?  Do you look down on others?  Do you treat others with disrespect? We all struggle with looking at others in the proper manner.  The way we regard others is how we treat them.

Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves;  Philippians 2:3

We are selfish which ultimately translates into wanting our way.  Selfishness means that we see our views, concerns, and agenda as more important than anyone else's.  It can be hard to get out of that mindset. Putting others first is one way we can "one another" one another. It is what Christ did on the cross.  He puts us first instead of Himself.  The irony is that He Is First!  But He laid down that title and the entitlement and thought of how He could help us in our lowly state. As you look around at the others you come into contact with today, is there a way you can honor them and regard them as more important than yourself?  Can you be more severe on your own faults and gracious with the faults of others? These are not easy tasks, but Christ was a master at them.  Today I am asking God to change my views of others, so that my treatment of them will change, too.

They will know us by our love.
