Abiding in Christ

Abiding in Jesus is nothing but the giving up of oneself to be ruled and taught and led and so resting in the arms of Everlasting Love.--Andrew Murray

I am currently reading Andrew Murray's Abide in Christ.  I have never really considered before what abiding in Christ really means.  Abiding means living.  It also means to "go along with" (as in "I can't abide by these rules.").  When we abide in Christ we go with Him wherever He may lead.  Sometimes it is down a road that we don't want to take.  I have been down many of those roads that I wished that God had never put in front of me: miscarriage, depression, anxiety, abuse, the breakup of relationships, etc.  But in each situation God brings healing and blessings.

In the past few weeks I have come to the conclusion that if I will but trust Him He will provide all that I need.  Abiding in Him means trusting Him down the road He leads.  A couple of days ago I was in a situation that brought back terrible memories of a heart-wrenching time a few years back.  This time though I decided to do something different...to say, "Ok, God, I am trusting you that if I have to go through this again You will be with me."  There was such a peace about the whole situation because I had left it in His lap to deal with. He would take care of the situation I found myself in! I am amazed at His faithfulness!

Abiding is nothing but the acceptance of my position.--Andrew Murray

How do you abide in Christ?

Yes, I am enjoying his stuff. Want to read "The True Vine" next since it does kind of pertain to abiding.
