Sometime before the end of October we receive our first snowfall that is here to stay. This year we didn't even make it halfway through the month. By Monday we were wrapped in whiteness. Our winter wonderland will last until April...such is life in Central Alaska.
This week's mail was exciting! We received this....
Noah is looking forward to doing some of these activities with a friend of his. His friend has already started the book. So our goal is to do the first lesson and then go to the lesson that his friend is working on so that they can work together. We are going to do something like this.
I also received in the mail The Bridge (Bracken Trilogy, Book 1) and the Progeny Press study guide to it. I have heard good things about this trilogy. Hope the boys like it.
The last fun book in the mail came yesterday, The Grace of God by Andy Stanley! I love listening to and reading Andy Stanley. I am only on chapter four, but this book is awesome. I received it early so that I could review it for Book Sneeze.

I received it early so that I could review it for Book Sneeze.This week had a first in it. On Tuesday a friend took me out to lunch. I left the boys at home. Well, during that time they had chess club. So another friend picked them up and took them. I was so proud of Zach and Noah. They locked up the house, didn't lose the key, and were able to get back in when they were dropped off. They even called me to let me know they had made it back home! Good for them!
Today the boys are managing school on their own as I do my monthly bulk cooking session with a friend. With homeschooling and working part time, I rely on bulk cooking to get through the week. I love having a freezer full of food!

I can't believe you have snow already!!! Sounds like your boys are really growing up. I've been doing some bulk cooking too. It helps me not feel so stressed.
Yay for the children being so independent. We are working towards that, but it's hard at the ages of five and nine right now! I'm your newest follower, coming from the Weekly Wrap-Up.

Wow! Snow! I've lived in Georgia all my life, and I always think I'd like to have a lot of snow, but I'm not sure if I'd enjoy months of it if I really lived in it. Beautiful, though!
Wow! Already shoveling? Bummer! So beautiful. One day I would love to visit Alaska. But apparently no later than September. =o)
We're going to do Anatomy next year I've heard nothing but good things about it.
I was just reading to my kids "amazing alaska a raven's eye view". We were just talking about how much light you all get each summer. I've never been there but would love to see your state sometime.
My oldest will be ninth grade next year too-scary and I feel so blessed that we homeschool. I don't know about you but I remember high school and am so glad my kids are home. :)

We are doing anatomy--- we just love it! SOO much information!
Have fun in your winter wonderland-- we are in Texas adn lucky to get a 1/2 inch that stays for a couple of hours!

Oh snow! I know we seem nuts but we love snow, here in AL it's rare, only once a year at most, but my kids were just talking the other day about the snowman they are going to make. Our little police department takes pictures and the snowmen get on the news. LOL. John is going through Jeanne's Anatomy book this year and loving it. Have fun with it too!

Oh my goodness! I had to take a double take at the snow. WOW! We live in Florida so my daughter is begging us to drive to see snow this year. Driving in it makes me nervous, we we'll have to see about that. Thanks for stopping by my very first Weekly Wrap-Up!
