Hunger

Sometimes He wants us to lack.  He wants us to be needy.  He wants us to hunger in this world.  Why?

He humbled you by letting you go hungry; then He gave you manna to eat, which you and your fathers had not known, so that you might learn that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord. Deuteronomy 8:3

So that He can give us something that we weren't expecting...something that we didn't even know existed.  Manna (which means "What is it?") was given to the Israelites on a daily basis to quench their hunger.  They couldn't store it up ahead of time. They had to daily seek it out.  They had to learn to seek God in order to survive.

Lately I have been going through a humbling experience...a time of feeling in need. I have had to rely on His mercies that are new every morning (just like His manna was) to get through the day.  I can't store it up ahead of time and hope it lasts.  He provides in the moment that I need it and not any sooner.
He provides in ways that I have not expected.  He has filled in the gaps either through circumstances or people. May He be praised!
