2016. The No-Fear Year. This year I have chosen the word FEARLESS as my Word of the Year. It is an appropriate word for me to work on as I have an anxiety disorder and am constantly battling the never-ending cycle of worry. Sometimes the best way to fight fear is to remind ourselves that God knows how to work out all things for His glory and our good. His Word is filled with stories of men and women who faced fear only to find a loving God who saw them through their circumstances. So here is a look at a few of my favorites...the ones I go to time and again to remind myself I don't need to fear when God is on my side.
- Daniel 3 When you do the scary thing and stand up for what is right.
- Genesis 50 When you are afraid to forgive.
- II Chronicles 20 When you don't know what to do.
- Exodus 2:1-10 When you are concerned about your kids and their future.
- Exodus 13:17-14:31 When you wonder if God is for you.
- I Samuel 17 When fear looms large and you have no other choice but to face it.
- I Samuel 23:7-29 When people are out to get you and you need God's protection.
- John 8:1-11 When you have been caught in sin and are fearful of the consequences.
- Luke 10:38-42 When you have too much to do and are feeling "over-worried" and overwhelmed.
- Esther 4 When it's your turn to be the hero.

My life is consumed by fear. I trust God. That's not the problem. I don't trust myself. Even though I know God can work anything for good, I don't want my decision to cause me to have to go through trials in the meantime. I have made the wrong decisions so often in my life. I'm afraid to drive. I'm afraid to get involved. Most of all I'm afraid to be vulnerable. I would love to live a life in which I wasn't constantly second guessing myself.
ReplyDeleteI so get this. I constantly second guess myself also. I have to fight the fear on a daily basis. Praying for you!!
